This is a DIY kit, useful for integrating wireless IR transmission / reception in your project or to use with your Home Automation setup.
We provide a ready-to-use PCB that takes power from a micro-USB cable (not included, use with a standard mobile phone charger or power bank) and has Wi-Fi module (ESP-01, with 1MB Flash) & most passives already populated. We provide high-intensity infra-red LEDs and IR receiver for you to connect them to PCB in a way suitable for your application. A connector is provided for the same:
– Yellow: 5V Vdd
– Orange: Ground
– Red: IR LED Control (active low)
– Black: TSOP data
The kit allows for high current (100 mA) to be pumped into the IR LEDs and includes 3 IR LEDs for better coverage.
The Wi-Fi module can be accessed via its own Wi-Fi Access Point for first 3 minutes of power-up. For regular use, it should be configured to connect to an external router and use DHCP. In order to do so, connect to it within 3 minutes of power-up (SSID will show up as `zmote_ABCDEF`) using your phone or PC and then visit http://zmote.io while connected to it.
Features:
  • The module provides simple REST API (https://hackaday.io/project/7858-zmote/log/27078-rest-control-over-zmote) for configuration and control. This makes it simple to control it from a script, from a web page or even from a mobile app.
  • There is also an in-built MQTT client, should you want to send IR commands through MQTT.
  • Use it as a universal remote, as a wireless IR blaster or as a tool for hacking / learning IR signals.
TIP: Configure your router to always assign a fixed IP to this module.
